Workshop experience

Sun, 2006-07-30 16:51

Before the next session, my personal aim is to find out if:

1.   One should head straight for a Skypecast connection and NOT go to the Academy.

2.   If, after making the connection, once should join chatroom at the Academy

3.   Jeff referred to asking for the microphone. Where? In which window?

I could hear perfectly, and it was fascinating, but I couldn't join if, for the reasons above.

Sound problem

Sun, 2006-07-30 14:37

Sam, Screencast 3:

1. Was the only one so far I did not have to download.

2. For me, it is without sound.

Other Windows screencasts are fine.

Schedules

Sun, 2006-07-30 14:33

It looks to me as if the schedules for our meetings aren't synchronised i.e. different times in Newsletter & Webcast Schedule. Am I wrong about that? Dennis

Dennis: Audio introduction

Sun, 2006-07-30 10:20

Greetings to you all and a special "Hi!" to my CETEFL colleague. You all sound young, dynamic and professionally successful. I should learn a lot. Trying to catch up, so a short and simple introduction.

More an apology than an introduction

Sun, 2006-07-30 08:37

True I've been travelling, but I still feel like the boy that's arrived in the third week of the semester. I'm finding my way around, but there were/are areas of the Academy I didn't realise existed. I'll get my new micro tomorrow, and I'll be with you. Dennis

Lee's Intro

Sat, 2006-07-29 03:40

Welcome to all the 1.2 interns. The neighborhood is getting very exciting and I am anxious to get to know everyone better. I have really enjoyed the introductions from everyone! I have recorded my intro and it is admittedly sappy ...no way around it...but I love messing around with enhancing and editing audio. (This recording is also set up as an enhanced podcast.)

I didn't mention that my previous careers were playing with a musical touring group, audio engineer, and trainer for a USET World Champion Endurance Racer (not all at the same time!) In the academy, I have done the webcast called SpaceCast (8th grade elgg students, their teachers and guests) and been involved with Teachers Teaching Teachers. It's nice to meet all of you and to learn more about the other 1.1 interns.

EdTechTalk Brainstorm - July 20, 2006

Thu, 2006-07-27 12:56

Hi, I am sending along the edited audio for the EdTechTalk Brainstorm for last Thursday. I hosted the show for Doug Symington. Discussions on the show centered around blog software such as elgg and WordPress and its application for schools, and the EducationBridges Elgg.

Dave from Florida joined in and talked about his experience setting up a blog for his region and had quite a bit to contribute. Paul Ellerman, Cathy and chat room participants had information to add as well.

The recording starts after the show began due to technical difficulties...mosty my own! Please excuse the audio quality..voice levels were not even and I had to resort to a Planetronics headset after my mic broke right before showtime! I fixed it as well as I could for the time had to edit...it is very time consuming to fix if not recorded well to start with.

Xinha Download

Thu, 2006-07-27 11:28
I thought I would follow up to Jeff's screenshot with a link to the download page for the editor he used for adding the flash player on your posts. Go to firefox..(download it if you dont have it already) and go to ...Tools...Extensions...Get More Extensions... and find Xenha. Here is a direct link to the download page I used but it works best if you go to the extensions and click on get more extensions since it installs the extension directly into Firefox for you. Erika's Intro - By Carla

Wed, 2006-07-26 19:53

Hello everyone!

This is Erika Cruvinel from Brazil! My friend Carla will introduce me to the group and I will introduce her! We think that it is much easier to talk about someone else than about ourselves!

Wow! This is fun and scary for me!

Bye for now!

Carla's Introduction by Erika

Wed, 2006-07-26 19:00

Well, guys, Erika and I work together and we decided that it would be fun to introduce one another. So here it goes! My introduction was recorded by Erika. I laughed hard when I heard her ideas about me. I didn't even know I did so many things!

It's a pleasure to be here with you all. I'm sure it will be a thrilling experience!

Thanks, Jeff, for inviting us!

Paul Reid - Intern 1.2 Introduction

Tue, 2006-07-25 12:19

Hi all,

I don't have Xinha in my Camino browser. So here is an MP3 of my introduction (872kb, 1:51).

I'm very glad to be taking part in this webcast 1.2 internship and would like to thank Brad Hicks for recommending me the fantastic Webcast Academy.

I am the founder of Digital Chalkie and my goal is to help Brad with the production of webcasts for Digital Chalkie in the future. The purpose of Digital Chalkie is to provide a hub for Australian educators using ICT to engage and facilitate the best educational outcomes for their students. The domain name uses the word ‘chalkie’ as an affectionately defunct Australian term for teachers. The goal is to establish a hub/magazine/think-tank for teachers to support each other and to collaborate in the use of ICT.

I look forward to meeting up with you in the webcasts. Would it be possible for the webcasts to occur earlier for the weekend show? 12am GMT perhaps?

Kind regards,

Paul Reid

Jeff Lebow Introduction

Tue, 2006-07-25 04:39

Wow, this is really fun listening to introductions - learned some new things about people I've 'virtually' known for a while and enjoying making some new web acquaintances.

I realize now, I should have included some information about how to created a download link and flash player option for playing the audio. If I don't fall asleep on the keyboard, I'll try to get that up tonight. If not, it will be up very soon.

Susan's Introduction 07_24_06

Tue, 2006-07-25 03:27

Hi everyone! I was sorry to miss the first adventure with the new group of interns but look forward to working with you and supporting you as much as I can!

I did use a few filters on this recording but am unhappy with the underwater sound of it. I normalized it and faded in the beginning. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to get rid of the underwater sound, it would be great! I'd also like to stick one of those flash players here to play it, but am not sure how to do it. ???

Jeff, the screenshot video that you made as the introduction was fabulous. I would like to learn how to do that - exactly what you did. It would be a nice way to do my report. In fact, I have a recurring problem with my Nicecast which I could record and share! How did you make that???

My Introduction - Randy

Tue, 2006-07-25 01:02

Hi everyone...

I've had Audacity on my computer for some time, but never really had a good reason to use it. What better time...

This is going to be great fun, I think. I am looking forward to speaking with and learning from a wide array of people.

Introduction

Mon, 2006-07-24 21:27

My message from Safari is that this is experimental and they cannot guarantee it's going to work so don't send them any error messages.  Hopefully, it will suffice.  I did not quite follow Jeff's instructions here about .rtf vs. .html, but I'll just post this shall I? and see how it looks.

Hello, everyone!  This is Trevor Shanklin.  Kiralyfi is the Hungarian word for prince.  I lost the title when my son was born, but use it anyway.
